In March 2004, CVMCanada sent
out our first long-term missionaries.
Destination: Mongolia,
a country with an extreme climate, breathtaking
landscapes, nomadic culture, and hospitable people
who are hungry for the Gospel. Until 1989,
Mongolia was a country closed to the Gospel of
Jesus Christ and virtually no Christians were
found in the country. With the fall of the Soviet
Union, the country opened up and many people come
to Christ every day.
Mission: To work with
VETNet, a team of Mongolian Christians reaching
out to Mongolia with the message of Christ through
their professional skills. VETNet supports a
small animal clinic in the capital city of
Ulaanbaatar.
The
VETNet Ministry has also developed a nationwide
“Continuing Education” project. They provide
quality continuing education to the countryside
veterinarians throughout the country. Modern,
relevant veterinary/animal husbandry information
is translated into Mongolian and presented at a
central training center in Ulaanbaatar. One of
the main goals of VETNet is to build relationships
with Mongolian veterinarians and share the love of
Christ with them. By meeting their needs for
improved veterinary skills, medications and
equipment, relationships can be made and doors
will be open to share the gospel.
Our missionary couple lent veterinary
expertise to the continuing education program
and worked to develop schools, trained
teachers and taught English. Both of their work
took them to remote areas of the country.
CVMCanada was happy to partner with them as they shared God’s love with the people
of Mongolia. The training and expertise they
provided is invaluable, and their willingness to
give of themselves has had an incredibly powerful
impact on the people they served.
These missionaries spent two
years in Mongolia and say that they were
blessed to have been a part of building and
helping to implement the programs and were proud
to see the teams grow so much in their poise,
skills and maturity in both their Christian walks
and their professions. VETNet has so many
opportunities to reach out to communities all over
Mongolia and the crew has risen to the challenge
in such amazing ways. Please cover them in prayer
that they will find the quiet time to soak in
God’s grace and refreshing and not be overwhelmed
with the tasks ahead of them.
